Not the start Scott wanted
Perhaps Adam Scott should have stayed home and enjoyed The Players Championship from his couch. After all, had he not made the start this week at TPC Sawgrass, he would have automatically surpassed Tiger Woods in the world rankings and taken over as the new world no. 1.
Eyeing the throne
Adam Scott is chasing more than just his second title at the Players Championship this week — the Australian has the chance to take the top spot in the world rankings. In fact, had Scott decided to skip The Players Championship this week, Scott would have automatically overtaken Tiger Woods in the world rankings. Why? How? It’s just the way the numbers work out within the OWGR system.
“See you later, guys,” said Scott, laughing as he pretended to leave the podium during his press conference on Wednesday at TPC Sawgrass. “Good to see you.”
Just about everyone is watching basketball, so it shouldn’t really matter, but I did a rambly wrap-up of the third round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. As you know, Tiger Woods leads by two over Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose and John Huh.
Woods is going for his eighth victory at Bay Hill. Should he win, he will dethrone Rory McIlroy from the world No. 1 ranking.
