Round two of the PGA Championship was suspended at 5:28pm local time due to inclement weather. Less than a half hour later, play was called for the day as thunderstorms, high winds and torrential rain hit Whistling Straits. The second round will resume at 7am Saturday morning.

This is certainly the right call as you’ve probably seen the multiple videos on Twitter. Like the ones below.

Good news: You didn’t miss a whole lot. Bad news: You didn’t miss a whole lot.

Due to the delays during the first two rounds of the Honda Classic, half the field finished their second round on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, 51 minutes after the third round began, play was suspended at 12:51pm due to a dangerous weather situation (e.g. high winds, torrential rain, thunderstorms in the area, etc.).

More bromance!

I thought they weren’t into fist-bumping?

Aside from the crappy weather and delays — which we’re pretty used to this year on the PGA Tour — this Presidents Cup is much more intriguing than most expected. We thought it’d just be another American blowout, like every other year, except 1998 when the Internationals captured their lone win.

While there are four matches in the Friday foursomes sessions still in progress, the first two were completed, with the Americans and Internationals each securing a point. The score currently stands with U.S. 4.5, International 3.5.

Rain, rain, go away

Rain, rain, go away

The horn sounded at 3:09pm at Muirfield Village, suspending Friday’s foursomes session — which might sound familiar because play was halted at 2:38pm on Thursday.

It might also be reminiscent of The Memorial Tournament held here at Muirfield Village in late May/early June every season, which isn’t The Memorial without weather delays. Actually, the PGA Tour’s ongoing battle with inclement weather causing the suspension of play has truly been the theme of the year.

Mother Nature, you win.

Graphic that greets you when you go to Weather.com

The weather is winning so far at the 113th edition of the U.S. Open, but that has been the theme all year on the PGA Tour. The first round at Merion Golf Club was halted at 8:36am ET due to thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy rain and possibly hail.

The storied golf course has already endured six inches of rain in the past week, which has led to soft conditions (and the recipe for mud balls this weekend).

A fierce storm tore through the DC area and hit Congressional hard on Friday night

The maintenance workers and clean-up crew at Congressional Country Club deserve a huge round of applause for preparing the storm-ravaged golf course in time for golfers to complete Saturday’s third round.

Just after 10pm on Friday evening, a fierce thunderstorm called a “Derecho,” which originated in the Chicago area, wreaked havoc in the nation’s capital. The storm goes at least 250 miles with winds at least 58 miles per hour or greater. In the Bethesda, Maryland, area, gusts reached 80mph.
