Goodbye, Turning Stone Resort Championship. I know, I know, try not to get too disappointed.

The PGA Tour and the Resort announced on Friday that the event played at Atunyote Golf Club for the past four years will not return on the 2011 Tour schedule. Turning Stone wanted an “unencumbered date” during the regular season (translation: not in the Fall Series as it was the first three years and not opposite a World Golf Championship event as it was in ’10), but “a mutually agreeable date did not become available.”

When it was revealed that Ray Halbritter, the CEO of Nation Enterprises and Turning Stone executive, granted himself a spot in the upcoming PGA Tour event, it became a hot topic on the web, receiving a mostly negative response. On Sunday evening Turning Stone Resort sent out a release with a statement from Ray Halbritter anouncing that he was pulling out of the tournament.
