Tiger Woods is launching a new initiative to raise money for his foundation via the Tiger Woods Charity Playoffs, an amateur series spanning over five months on eight courses that rewards the best players and fundraisers with a final event in Orlando, Florida, at the end of the year, according to the Associated Press:

Moving time!

Moving time!

Tiger Woods’ annual World Challenge event that hosts his player-friends and benefits his foundation will relocate from southern California to central Florida in 2014. Going forward, the exhibition will be played at Isleworth, where Woods used to live and call his home course (and the site of his infamous fire hydrant accident), according to ESPN.com’s Bob Harig:

Although he contended at The Barclays last week, Tiger Woods was visibly in a considerable amount of pain after tweaking his back due to sleeping in a soft hotel bed. At one point on Sunday, Woods collapsed on all fours because of a back spasm, which was a cause for concern, especially when he took a few moments until he got back up.

When he finished on Sunday, he told CBS that it was “all hypothetical” whether or not he would be healthy enough to play in the second leg of the FedExCup Playoffs, the Deutsche Bank Championship, which benefits his foundation.

About a half-hour before his scheduled press conference at Aronimink Golf Club to promote AT&T National, the tournament that benefits his foundation, Tiger Woods tweeted (screenshot above), “Almost press conference time. I’ll donate one million dollars to @TWFoundation if no one asks me about the leg.”
