Ben An, a rookie on the European Tour, fired an impressive bogey-free, seven-under 65, the low score on Sunday, to capture the BMW PGA Championship by six shots over Miguel Angel Jimenez and Thongchai Jaidee. He carded a 21-under total for the championship, the lowest in relation to par in the history of the tournament, beating the previous best of 19-under by Anders Hansen in 2002 and Scott Drummond in 2004.

God.

God.

There are many ways to qualify — excuse me, receive an invitation to the hallowed grounds of Augusta National to play in the Masters Tournament every April. Well, actually, there are 19 different ways, one of which is to finish in the top 50 in the Final Official World Golf Ranking for the previous calendar year.

Well, finally, there are no more golf tournaments with world ranking points this year — that list was published on Monday, and 14 players were added to the 2014 Masters field.

This week’s tournament– The Africa Open– is the third of the tour’s South African swing and, prestigious title aside, probably its least competitive. That said, it has managed to attract a couple of the host nation’s leading lights in Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, as well as a raft of up-and-coming talent.

Tiger Woods: Skinned in Thailand

In a show of goodwill, Tiger Woods visited Thailand, the native country of his mother Kultida Woods, for the first time in ten years, and played in the “World Golf Salutes King Bhumibol” charity skins tournament, with Camilo Villegas, Paul Casey and Thongchai Jaidee, on Monday. Woods was mic’ed up for the event (hope there was a bleep-delay!), but unfortunately, he didn’t give the enthusiastic crowd much of a show on the golf course.
