Well, Tiger certainly looks like he's in better spirits!

Oh, what a difference eight or nine days make! — on Monday and Tuesday morning Tiger Woods arrived at Lake Nona (via car, not helicopter a la Isleworth and Queenswood) for the lavish exhibition matches, and walked the golf course without a hint of a limp or incident. Phew. Tiger, who represented Albany, had one of those nothing-to-call-home-over days and shot even-par in Day 2 of the Tavistock Cup. Ho-hum.

Tough times for the Big Easy

The last two years on the golf course haven’t been a walk in the park for Ernie Els, a three-time major champion. For a few hours on Sunday afternoon at Innisbrook’s Copperhead course, Els had a chance to break his two-year win-less streak on the PGA Tour, but he stumbled coming down the stretch, missing short putts and bogeying two of the last three holes at the Transitions Championship.

Now I almost regret missing the Tavistock Cup! (It was on the TVs in the media room, but the sound was muted.) While Graeme McDowell prepared to tee off, a rather loud, somewhat unholy sound blasted in the air. Apparently Tiger wasn’t the culprit (it was Darren Clarke), but as you may remember, he and David Feherty have an affinity for fart jokes and rancorous noises via iPhones.

Thanks to Geoff Shackelford via Jay Busbee for the spot.

Lake Nona cruised to win the Tavistock Cup with the team of Oliver Wilson, Ross Fisher, Henrik Stenson, Retief Goosen, Graeme McDowell and Peter Hanson, firing a combined 43-under to earn the right to spray each other with bottles of champagne. In Tuesday’s stroke play format, Wilson shot a seven-under 65 at host course, Isleworth Golf & Country Club.

Poulter: "Check out the Tavistock Cup for albany it's awesome. pink and navy"

Ah, the Tavistock Cup. The players and organisers see it, no doubt, as a good-natured exhibition that harnesses a little star power and gloss in the worthwhile pursuit of some charity dollars, but in the eyes of many it always seems a bit too pleased with itself. Maybe coating your event in an oily film of ostentation and plutocratic elitism is what’s required to bring in the big fish, but boy, does it make for tough viewing at times.
