This is priceless

This is priceless

Oh, poor Duffy Waldorf! I almost feel bad, but this really is the worst case of #swampass I’ve ever seen. Thanks to Chris Harder for snapping the above picture of a dude taking a photo of Waldorf’s sweaty bottom.

Waldorf was playing in the final group at the Regions Tradition, a Champions Tour event, at Shoal Creek in Alabama, so he was getting tons of television time. Which was a little unfortunate because apparently he sweats a lot and he chose to wore khaki cotton pants (no, Duff, no!).

Scoreboard knocked down next to 18 at Palmer Private

For nine-and-a-half holes, President Bill Clinton shook hands, posed for pictures, signed autographs, kissed babies, etc. He also played some golf with Greg Norman, Scott McCarron and Humana CEO Mike McCallister at PGA West’s Palmer Private course.

While walking from eight green to nine tee, Clinton stopped to oblige some fans who wanted autographs. He looked around and called to one of his secret service agents and said, “Help me…” Not that he didn’t want to sign (he did for a few minutes), but because he’d be there until the sunset if someone didn’t intervene at some point. The fans all thanked him for supporting and reviving the tournament — which he sure has achieved. (I was here last year and the energy and buzz are like 20 times greater this time around, which is awesome.)

First of all, I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving and I’ll bet it was better than mine, where I spent keeling over in pain Thursday afternoon and then the rest of the weekend lying in bed (I was disappointed I didn’t really get to eat my favorite meal of the year), but thankfully, I’ve recovered (finally).

Earlier this week our editors asked the SI Golf Group for submissions to the annual “What We’re Thankful For” gallery.  Well, I’d just been chatting with Steve Elkington, so first thing that came to mind was Elk’s funny tweets and cartoons, so I replied “I’m thankful Elk joined Twitter.”

If you follow Steve Elkington on Twitter or on his site, Secret in the Dirt.com (or read the Q&A on WUP with him from a few weeks back), then you’ve seen his clever cartoons. Well, Elk and his crew were kind enough to render my very own avatar — which I must say is a pretty perfect depiction (aside from the long, nice legs).

How do you get an avatar? Visit their sister site, buynsellgolf.com, and go to “personal services.”

Back in March my friend and WUP’s head researcher, Intern Kevin, introduced me to Steve Elkington’s website, Secret in the Dirt. I finally checked it out after weeks of hearing him rave about the hysterical and legendary videos. Turned out Intern Kevin was right — the content was unique and interesting (some more than others, but depends on what you’re looking for), and I couldn’t believe this was the first I’d heard of it.
