Ernie not so quick to jump on the 'Tiger is back' bandwagon

Calm down, everyone. The wise Ernie Els didn’t mean any disrespect, rather he pointed out the facts. After Tiger Woods played beautifully to beat Aaron Baddeley 4&3 in the Presidents Cup singles, many have proclaimed that Tiger is on pace to return to his pre-hydrant-era form. During Els’ presser at the South African Open, he was asked his thoughts on Tiger’s “comeback,” to which he replied:

Ernie Els isn't happy with the cramped world tour schedule at the end of the year

Apparently the whole “multi-layer world tour platform” isn’t working as the powers-that-be envisioned — or perhaps it’s exactly how some of them planned. Thing is, the various commissioners or directors of tours weren’t predicting the players to speak out against the clustered schedule of tournaments across various countries at the end of 2011. Ernie Els, a winner on all six major tours in the world, certainly isn’t thrilled about the difficult decisions he’ll be faced with. In fact, with the South African Open happening the same week as the Presidents Cup, he’s not sure which he’ll play and he’s pissed, according to the AP.

Heavy rain earlier in the week almost washed out the entire first day at Durban Country Club, forcing those competing in the South African Open to play two rounds on Sunday. More showers in the morning delayed play and made the fourth hole unplayable. Seriously! Only 17 holes were played on the final day of the European Tour event, co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour.
