Zach’s face says it all

With eight holes to play on Sunday at Sherwood, Tiger Woods was ready to start his victory lap on his way to the winner’s circle, the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge, an 18-man annual cash grab that benefits his foundation (and the pockets of top PGA Tour players). Woods had a four-shot lead, with his only challenger being the scrappy Zach Johnson. What could go wrong?

The stage was set for Tiger to win triumphantly as he said goodbye to Southern California — since the event moves to Florida, Woods’ adopted home state beginning next year.

Woods turning to new horizons for his new tourney

Tiger Woods is hosting an “amazing field” of 18 of the best players in the world — himself included — at the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge this week, where it will be held at Sherwood Country Club for the last time before it moves away from Woods’ native California to his adopted state of Florida next year.

On the eve of the first round, Woods told reporters he thinks it’s harder than ever to win tournaments these days because of the equipment advances which have leveled the playing field a bit (mediocre ballstrikers are now decent ballstrikers) and there’s just more depth in the talent pool than there ever has been before.

Moving time!

Moving time!

Tiger Woods’ annual World Challenge event that hosts his player-friends and benefits his foundation will relocate from southern California to central Florida in 2014. Going forward, the exhibition will be played at Isleworth, where Woods used to live and call his home course (and the site of his infamous fire hydrant accident), according to ESPN.com’s Bob Harig:
