McIlroy looking for new horizon...

Rory McIlroy couldn’t believe the massive reaction to his recent split with now former agent Chubby Chandler and ISM. It’s not uncommon for players and managers to break up and usually no one notices. But since the 22-year-old won the U.S. Open by a decisive eight strokes and due to Chubby’s high profile, it was big news. (After all, in the new world order Rory breaking a nail might make headlines.)

Nice mullet, man

Though it was a non-sanctioned, limited-field, no-cut event, Rory McIlroy made a statement winning the Shanghai Masters, along with the $2 million check, the richest prize in golf. Winless since his dominating U.S. Open victory in June at Congressional, McIlroy had the opportunity to win in regulation, but missed an eight-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole, with tennis star girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki watching from a luxury box by the green.

Before I go into more details, I have to ask — what’s going on with Anthony Kim’s hair? Is he trying to bring the mullet back?

McIlroy eyes golf's biggest payout

After opening with a bogey-free, eight-under 64, Rory McIlroy shot a three-under 69 to take a two-shot lead at the Shanghai Masters at the midway mark. McIlroy struggled a bit on the front nine, finding the water hazard off the tee on the par-4 ninth to post a double-bogey, but he regrouped and carded four birdies on the back nine, including the 18th.
