Well, Tiger certainly looks like he's in better spirits!

Oh, what a difference eight or nine days make! — on Monday and Tuesday morning Tiger Woods arrived at Lake Nona (via car, not helicopter a la Isleworth and Queenswood) for the lavish exhibition matches, and walked the golf course without a hint of a limp or incident. Phew. Tiger, who represented Albany, had one of those nothing-to-call-home-over days and shot even-par in Day 2 of the Tavistock Cup. Ho-hum.

Sabbo and Sean: BFFs

Rory Sabbatini and his caddie Mick Doran didn’t exactly get off to an ideal start in the second round at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Before Sabbatini even hit his first tee shot, he was already over par for the day because he received a two-shot penalty for missing his 11:35am tee time at Kapalua by two minutes.

The first tee already was probably going to be a tad awkward with Sabbatini and Sean O’Hair paired together for the first time since their near on-course brawl during the second round of the Zurich Classic last April — the two have mended things, but I doubt they play practice rounds together. (Robert Garrigus had a pretty funny tweet. So did Brian Gay’s caddie Kip Henley. This one made me chuckle, as well.)

Despite reports to the contrary, the profanity-laced argument between Sean O’Hair and Rory Sabbatini at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans two weeks ago did not concern slow play.

“I think I wish I would have handled it better,” O’Hair told a group of reporters following the second round of The Players Championship. “I’m not going to go into details, but I was defending myself and it wasn’t about pace of play. We waited on every shot for two days. That was not part of the issue.”

Sabbo was the center of controversy at Quail Hollow

Admit it. For a moment when you looked at the Wells Fargo Championship leaderboard and saw Rory Sabbatini had charged near the top, you got a little nervous, especially since the other players in contention looked a little shaky at times coming down the stretch. You were also impressed at how well Sabbo plays while under scrutiny for disciplinary matters. (When he won the Honda Classic in March, the Tour was considering suspending him for an incident at the Northern Trust Open.)

Sabbatini rage: is Mace the only deterrent?

Alex Miceli over at Golfweek has been building on Steph’s good work with regards to the Sabbatini/O’Hair confrontation and has begun to formulate a possible explanation for this week’s schoolyard falling out between the two. It probably won’t be a shock to hear it, given Sabbo’s controversial history on the topic, but it looks like a discussion between the two last week on the subject of slow play may have proven the catalyst for this week’s incendiary tete-a-tete.

Rory Sabbatini rejected reports from earlier in the day that he may face disciplinary action from the PGA Tour for his heated argument with Sean O’Hair during the second round of last week’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

“Well, I am playing this week so I wouldn’t worry about it too much, OK, guys?” said Sabbatini following his pro-am on Wednesday evening at Quail Hollow Golf Club, the site of this week’s Wells Fargo Championship. “That’s what it is, it’s a crazy rumor.”

Rory Sabbatini and Sean O’Hair, who were paired together in the first two rounds, along with Pat Perez, had a heated exchange (limited to words — sorry, no punches thrown) during the second round of last week’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Both players will likely receive disciplinary action — determined at the discretion of the PGA Tour — but the severity of their punishments is expected to differ, according to sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

O'Hair now searching for a new swing...coach

Sean O’Hair, who has missed five consecutive cuts, decided to call it quits with his swing coach of nearly three years, Sean Foley, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday. During his time with Foley, O’Hair won the ’09 Quail Hollow Championship and played in the Presidents Cup, but things evidently went awry this season. In ten starts, he’s seen weekend play only four times with his best finish coming at the Honda Classic where he T21. After firing veteran caddie Paul Tesori at the end of last season, and recently parting ways with caddie Brennan Little, O’Hair cleaned house and called it quits with Foley.

O'Hair's feet firmly planted on the ground

When I wandered over to the range at Harbour Town Golf Links this afternoon, I noticed an intriguing sight. You’ll often see guys, particularly Vijay, tinkering with various swing aids and gadgets, but I’d never seen this before — a shoeless and sockless Sean O’Hair, who had his trousers rolled up a few inches, was working with his swing instructor Sean Foley. The theory behind the drill?
