The crowds at Royal Liverpool were behind Rory all week, and he gave them one heck of a show. David Cannon of Getty Images snapped the above photo of Rory taking a selfie among a crowd of excited members/patrons.
With a T2 at The Open Championship, Rickie Fowler is the first player since Tiger Woods (2005) to record a top-10 in each of the season’s first three majors. Rickie’s amazing play on the back nine propelled him into a tie with Sergio Garcia, and there is little doubt that Fowler will be hoisting a major trophy in the near future.
Sergio Garcia came up just short of Rory McIlroy after firing a spectacular six-under 66 in the final round of The Open Championship. Garcia now has eight career top-10s at The Open, and this is his 4th second place finish in a major.
It was Sunday drama at The Open Championship, and Rory McIlroy emerged as the Champion Golfer of the Year. A couple bogeys by Rory on the front nine kept the final round challengers in the tournament, but a clutch up-and-down on 17 secured the third leg of the career Grand Slam for McIlroy.
More work to do.
After a second round 77, Tiger Woods needed to put together something special if he wanted to have a chance at winning The Open. Instead, Woods continued to struggle, and finished with rounds of 73-75 for a six-over total.

Five-time Open champion Tom Watson found the magic once again. He followed an opening bogey with five birdies throughout the final round for a 68. At one-over for the tournament, Watson is currently T53.
The window of opportunity is closing quickly at the 143rd Open Championship, but there is still a chance for Sergio Garcia, who sits in a tie for third with Dustin Johnson at 9-under par.
Rickie Fowler is having one heck of a season. He is on the verge of securing his third straight top-5 finish in a major, and will be looking to climb the mountain of a lead amassed by his final round playing partner, Rory McIlroy.

Rory McIlroy has the rare ability to make golf look easy. If he misses the green, he makes a nice par putt to keep the momentum going. If he gets to a par-5 late in his round, he uses his exceptional length to make an eagle. The simplicity Rory has demonstrated over the first three rounds of The Open Championship has led to a six-shot lead over Rickie Fowler.
