Dustin Johnson is in solo second, and six players are in a tie for third place: Sergio Garcia, Rickie Fowler, Ryan Moore, Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen, and George Coetzee. These players will have a golden opportunity to put pressure on Rory in the third round.

Jim Furyk is the ultimate grinder. Much is made of the towering drives hit by the players today, but what Furyk lacks in power, he makes up in consistency and mental fortitude. The ’03 U.S. Open champ has found himself on the first page of the leader board once again after shooting 68-71 for a five-under total.

As McIlroy continues to go low this afternoon, it is crucial for the players trailing him to shoot respectable scores. Adam Scott nearly shot himself out of the tournament, but managed to birdie 17 and 18 for a one-over 73, and a two day total of three-under par.
