She’s the one!

Stacy Lewis knows a thing or two about beating the odds and achieving the improbable. Nearly a decade ago, the 28-year-old who played her college golf at University of Arkansas had spine surgery to correct a severe curvature from scoliosis. And now, after battling from a four-shot deficit to start the final round, Lewis captured not only the trophy at the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup, but also ascended to the top of the world rankings.

Yani Tseng is enjoying her winning streak

The local media in Asia gave world’s No. 1 Yani Tseng a nickname. They’re calling her the “Queen of Golf,” Yani told me laughing during a phone interview last week. She’s not sure she’s deserving of such high praise, but she’s won four times in four starts in 2011, which vaulted her to No. 1 in the world after capturing the Australian Ladies Masters. On Sunday Yani continued her hot streak by dominating at the LPGA season-opener in Thailand. She shot a final round six-under 66 and blew away Michelle Wie by five shots.

Yani Tseng takes over as world's No 1 with Australian Masters victory

Yani Tseng has been dreaming of this moment for a while — she just didn’t think it’d come so early in the year. The 23-year-old Taiwan native won for the second straight week in Australia, claiming the Ladies Masters title on Sunday. She shot 68 in the final round and 24-under for the tournament to capture the trophy by four shots over Stacy Lewis and Nikki Campbell.
