Jason Day Nike

The no. 1 player in the world will be donning the famed SWOOSH logo as Jason Day has reportedly signed a shoe, hat and apparel deal with Nike, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell. While Nike recently exited from the club manufacturing business, the company vowed to continue a strong presence on the PGA Tour with its clothing and footwear, so a deal with Day would make sense.

Tiger Woods is being pretty active on Twitter today. For Tiger Woods, that is. First, he sent out a tweet announcing that he will be playing in The Players Championship. A few hours later, he tweeted the above photo of him and Yao Ming.

Welcome to this year’s edition of the WUP Holiday Gift Guide. It’s not quite as fancy as last year’s — no special photoshoot — but I think there’s more diversity and a variety of options in different price ranges, so you can find a special gift for your golfer friends and family.

composite photoshoot

As some of you may have spotted on my Twitter, Instagram and/or Facebook — in other words, my social media — I spent Saturday shooting the inaugural Wei Under Par holiday guide *and* 2014 look book.

The above composite is just a sampling of the looks, some of which come complete with clubs and other golf-related products.

Many thanks to the talented photographer Mike Altobello (check out his website) and Kelly Quan, who was responsible for the hair and make-up.

Big shout-outs of appreciation to the companies and sponsors involved (in no particular order): adidas Golf, TaylorMade GolfNike GolfCallaway GolfAshworth, Cross, Fairway & Greene, Zero Restriction, Fila GolfSun Mountain, SchriffenScheyden Precision Eyewear, KENTWOOL, Club GloveTin Cup, Maui Jim, G/FORE, Seamus Golf, Jones Golf Bags, CHAMP Spikes and ScoreBand. Also, a special thank you to Buffalo Communications, Jack Studios and Oliver Horovitz (for his caddying skills).

Since then, Rory and Tiger have developed a strangely endearing and puzzling to some friendship and cordial rivalry, which was tattooed across headlines a gazillion times, causing the complete ruin of the word “bromance” (for me, personally). After Tiger finished knocking it around with some amateurs in the pro-am Wednesday morning at PGA National, he shared some insight into their friendship, changing equipment, and of course, the anchoring ban, among other topics.
