Natalie Gulbis is at a good place in her life personally and professionally. Gulbis, who endured malaria earlier this season, revealed to Golf World last week at the U.S. Women’s Open that she’s engaged to marry 29-year-old Josh Rodarmel, who was a co-owner of the company Power Balance.

Gulbis recovering from sickness

Natalie Gulbis withdrew from the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup, the LPGA’s first domestic event of the season, as she recuperates from malaria. Gulbis originally became ill in Singapore and pulled out of the HSBC Women’s Champions due to flu-like symptoms, which later were identified as malaria.

The San Diego Padres and TaylorMade unveiled the replica 80-foot-tall R11 at PETCO Park on Thursday evening. The structure is nearly nine stories high and serves as the foul pole in right field. If a ball clips the shaft above the fence, it’s considered a home run. So yes, that means hitters can now aim at a really large golf club. Well, there’s not actually a ginormous driver head, but it’s a cleverly designed optical illusion. Here’s a video montage of TaylorMade’s contractors building the club:

Dustin Johnson's plane was rerouted back to South Carolina

As reported on Sunday, Dustin Johnson, whose relationship with Natalie Gulbis went public on Saturday, was withdrawing from this week’s Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii. He officially pulled out of the event on Monday. DJ’s agent David Winkle told the AP in an email that DJ had some “personal matters” to deal with at home in South Carolina.
