No one in the biz is better at a Friday 5:30pm ET news dump than Team Tiger. The latest announcement on Tiger Woods’ website does not appear to bode well for his speedy return following a second back surgery in September.

Woods endured a follow-up procedure to the aforementioned microdiscectomy to relieve discomfort, according to his website. Last month’s surgery was to alleviate pain from a disk fragment that was pinching a nerve.

Tiger Woods doesn’t know when he’ll return to competitive golf again following the somewhat surprising announcement last month that he had undergone back surgery for the second time in 18 months. Woods appeared in Mexico City on Tuesday for the Bridgestone America’s Golf Cup, a two-man team event he planned to play with Matt Kuchar prior to this latest injury setback.

He didn’t give a timeline for his return, but revealed that he had yet to start the rehabilitation process. He also implied it might take him at least a year to get healthy.

Talk about a Friday evening news dump! Between my recent travels/adventures and then catching a bug on the flight home earlier this week, I’ve been pretty checked out lately. Before kicking off the weekend, I decided to take a quick gander at Twitter and out of nowhere (at least it felt that way), a tweet from Tiger Woods pops up revealing that he had undergone back surgery.

Wait…WHAT? I had to read it about a dozen times to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating (let’s just say I’m a little out of it from getting treatment for my own chronic back problems this afternoon).
