Rickie Fowler is arguably the hottest player in the world over the last two months. Heading into the Honda Classic, he finished fifth at Kapalua in January and then lost in a heart-wrenching, emotional playoff against Hideki Matsuyama at the Phoenix Open for runner-up honors. He also won with an extremely strong field at the European Tour’s Abu Dhabi Championship in between that time. Well, he’s in contention again going into the weekend.

Fowler shot a second consecutive bogey-free 66 to take the early clubhouse lead on Friday at PGA National — so far, it looks like his lead will probably hold through the end of the day.

Forget it………

A photo posted by Keegan Bradley (@keeganbradley1) on

A group of pretty good athletes hung out while they were on vacation in Baker’s Bay in the Bahamas this week. Michael Jordan, winner of six NBA Championships and Tom Brady, four-time Super Bowl champion — quite arguably the greatest of all-time in their respective sports — got together with Keegan Bradley, who has won one major championship, and Luke Donald, who has placed in the top 10 at a TON of tournaments, teed it up for some golf, as you can see in the photo above.

(Aside: T-shirts, guys [with exception of Donald]? How do we feel about that on the golf course? I don’t really care. I was just more shocked at the sight of it since it’s become so weird to see people not wearing polos on a course. I guess when you’re at uber-uber-exclusive places, any attire flies — or you buy the right. Whichever.)

If you’re a legendary former basketball player and you are fed up with your fancy club’s pace of play issues, what do you do? Build you own uber-exclusive, ritzy golf course in the area. Naturally.

Michael Jordan, who is a member at the Bears Club in Jupiter, Florida, along with seemingly half of the Tour, including the likes of Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, Keegan Bradley, Ernie Els, Camilo Villegas and Michelle Wie, is looking to do just that, according to a report from Golf.com.

Finally. We can stop playing the guessing game. American Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III revealed his four picks to complete the U.S. Team. No surprises if you read our thoughts here at WUP last night. Love announced his selection at the NASDAQ headquarters in NYC by order of height — from tallest to shortest: Dustin Johnson, Jim Furyk, Brandt Snedeker and Steve Stricker — to round off what he described as the deepest U.S. Ryder Cup team in history.

MJ: Sorry, Freddie, I gotta bail.

Oh noes! — former NBA superstar, freeloader, lover of money games and playing mind games with Sean O’Hair Michael Jordan had to resign from team mascot assistant captain of the U.S. Presidents Cup. Because of that pesky NBA lockout, MJ, a majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, might have to vote or attend important meetings.

Captain Fred Couples has named current Champions Tour player John Cook, one of Tiger’s former Isleworth BFFs, to replace Jordan. Which makes sense since he’s actually a pro golfer that can bring more to the lockerroom than setting up money games (it was no secret that at the ’09 Prez Cup Jordan was taking Sean O’Hair’s money). But who’s going to give the Americans fiery pep talks. Or stir up controversy?!?
