With a T2 at The Open Championship, Rickie Fowler is the first player since Tiger Woods (2005) to record a top-10 in each of the season’s first three majors. Rickie’s amazing play on the back nine propelled him into a tie with Sergio Garcia, and there is little doubt that Fowler will be hoisting a major trophy in the near future.

Yep, that’s what John Daly’s wearing, courtesy of the Open Championship facebook page. (You can actually vote for which Daly outfit you liked the most this week on the Open Championship’s wall! The R&A is so hip!)

As far as how the course is playing, Ian Poulter was 5-under through 13 holes, but made two bogeys and a double in the next four holes to squander a strong round. At 11 a.m. local time, the wind is blowing 15-20 mph with gusts expected as strong as 30 mph later in the day. The sky is overcast, but the forecast calls for patches of rain.

We’re still three hours away from the leaders teeing off. Will anyone close the gap on Lodewicus Theodorus Oosthuizen’s four-stroke lead over Paul Casey until then? It’s interesting to note that there is not a major champion in the top seven, and Retief Goosen is the only winner in the top 17.

Another maybe not so random note: the British Open has been decided by a playoff seven of the last 15 years, including two of the last three. Will the leader board find a way to condense once again this year?
