Ogilvy: Stop being so sensitive, Tiger!

I’ve always liked Geoff Ogilvy. I don’t know him very well. To be honest, he almost kind of intimidates me because I know he is one of the guys on Tour who actually has a very functional brain and better sense than most — which he’s shown once again in his most recent column in Golf Digest.

Ogilvy wrote that he has played with Tiger Woods many times and has never questioned his integrity, so he thought Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee was a little cavalier with his comments, but thing is, he was just doing his job. He also said that the backlash against Chamblee was unfair and players need to be less sensitive with criticism from the media:

Rory has Tiger’s back

Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee has taken quite a bit of heat over his controversial column on Golf.com, accusing Tiger Woods of being “cavalier with the rules.” Chamblee, who had commented via email and Twitter about his remarks, appeared on-air for the first time since the his piece was published several weeks ago.

Talking with Rich Lerner on Golf Channel’s “Golf Central” show, Chamblee said he went “too far” comparing the 14-time major champion’s skirmishes with the rules during the 2013 season to his personal cheating incident on a fourth grade math test. He added that intent is involved with cheating and there’s no way he could’ve known what Woods’ was with any of the four incidents he had mentioned.

Tiger and Steiny want Brandel fired?

Prior to his exhibition match at Mission Hills Hainan Island, Tiger Woods spoke out publicly for the first time since Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee’s controversial column that accused Woods of being “cavalier with the rules,” which implied the 14-time major champ was a cheater (in golf), according to Bernie McGuire’s AP story:
