Sergio still feels bad

Sergio Garcia opened his press conference on Tuesday afternoon at Merion Golf Club saying he wanted to apologize for his racist remark directed at Tiger Woods a couple weeks ago at the European Tour players’ awards dinner. He even left a *handwritten* note in Tiger’s locker.

Mending fences on the range

Sergio Garcia was spotted approaching Tiger Woods on the driving range on Monday at Merion Golf Club and attempting to reconcile. It was their first meeting since Sergio made the “fried chicken” comment at a European Tour awards dinner. He has apologized in a statement and press conference, but the two hadn’t seen each other in public.

While Sergio tries to make amends, it’s unclear if Tiger is ready, according to Bob Harig:

I wish this was an SNL skit or Onion parody, but unfortunately this actually happened: European Tour Commissioner George O’Grady was trying to defend the now notorious remark Sergio Garcia made on Tuesday at an awards dinner — that he’d serve Tiger Woods “fried chicken — when he uttered his own racially insensitive phrase.
