Peter Dawson doesn’t think same-sex clubs are a big deal

Interesting enough, the R&A press conference kicked off with Jim MacArthur, chairman of the championship committee, reading a prepared speech that included platitudes about the greatest golf championship in the world and the advancements in technology, like WiFi, that have enabled them to bring the Open into the modern era. All the while, the massive gender elephant loomed and it felt like they were filibustering the uncomfortable questions regarding Muirfield’s all-male membership policy.

Ginni Rometty: Will she be wearing a green jacket by this time next year?

A special guest, who has artfully dodged the press, was sitting behind the 18th green on Sunday at the Masters. Her green chair — at Augusta National “patrons” must buy or bring a specific Masters chair if they want a seat on the grass — was in the second row, where she spent the late afternoon watching the last groups, including Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuizen make pars on the last hole in regulation to force a sudden-death playoff.

Romney: No question on extending membership to women

No need for Martha Burk to picket and protest outside the gates at Augusta National anymore (not that it was ever really a productive exercise), big-time politicians, including President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney both think women should be granted membership  at the all-male golf club, home of the famed Masters, according to the AP:
