...and Adams Golf combine forces...

Since the Honda Classic about a month ago — at least that’s when I first heard — there have been rumblings on the PGA Tour, particularly among the club manufacturers, that TaylorMade-adidas Golf was planning to acquire Adams.

Earlier this month, Oliver “Chip” Brewer resigned as the CEO and President of Adams Golf to assume those duties at Callaway Golf (which has been reporting losses in its profit margins and drops in sales). While the company was searching for a successor, Adams named founder and Chairman, Barney Adams, as the interim chief.

Ryan Moore signed an endorsement deal with Adams Golf. A few days earlier, Scratch Golf announced Moore was splitting ties with the company along with forfeiting his ownership after one year.

Moore told this site last week that he’s played with an Adams driver, 3-wood and hybrid the past two years and feels comfortable with the company. In his agreement with Adams, he’ll continue to play those three clubs and wears an Adams Golf hat and carry an Adams Golf staff bag.
