Francesco Molinari made a hole-in-one on the famed par-3 16th at TPC Scottsdale during the third round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He hit a pitching wedge from 133 yards and his shot landed just past the pin before spinning back and dropping in the hole.

Tiger Woods opened up his presser with a Marshawn Lynch joke, cracking, “I’m just doing this so I don’t get fined,” as he stepped up to the podium. For a guy who shot his worst-career round of his PGA Tour career with an 11-over 82, that was somewhat surprising, but sometimes you have to turn to humor when things go so poorly.

On Thursday at the Waste Management Phoenix Open amidst the notoriously rowdy and large crowds at the Tour’s biggest “party” stop, Tiger Woods made his second competitive start in six months. And it certainly showed, particularly with his chipping — which apparently hasn’t improved much since the Hero World Challenge in December, where he looked more like a weekend hack around the greens, blading and chunking chips, instead of a fourteen-time major champion. Well, it was more of the same in the first round at TPC Scottsdale.

A defiant Robert Allenby met with the media on Tuesday morning at TPC Scottsdale, where he’ll play in the Waste Management Phoenix Open, an event perhaps more well known for its rowdy crowds and parties than for the golf. With many questions left unanswered, including reportedly a visit to a strip club, and contradicting accounts over his story about getting beaten, robbed and kidnapped in Honolulu, Allenby stood by his original tale, and then blamed the media for his ensuing travails and speculation (which was really not a good tatic).

Tiger Woods, who is making his first start in 2015 on the PGA Tour at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, was in good spirits when he met with the media on Tuesday morning at TPC Scottsdale. Woods discussed a variety of topics, but let’s first address the one that’s most intriguing: The incident involving his missing tooth last week while he was watching his girlfriend Lindsey Vonn set the all-time record for World Cup wins with 63.

Allenby’s busted face: Beaten or fallen?

Robert Allenby’s traumatic story of getting beaten, robbed and kidnapped after missing the cut at the Sony Open continues to get weirder — as in, the more reporters investigate, the more holes there are with his original story.

One thing’s for sure: Allenby was robbed of most his credit cards, about $800 in cash and his phone, according to GolfChannel.com’s Rex Hoggard

Watch out for the PGA Tour’s fun police — they already got rid of the caddie races last year on the par-3 16th at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Now, players will be prohibited from throwing swag into the stands. A notice was posted in the locker room at this week’s Sony Open that was first tweeted by Golfweek’s Alex Miceli.

Well, I never thought I’d see the day where Tiger Woods would tee it up at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. After all, he hasn’t played in the event since 2001 (not to mention it’s absolute mayhem at that tournament even without Woods in the field). But, apparently it turns out I will see Woods make a start at TPC Scottsdale in just a few weeks.

Tiger officially announced via his website that he would make his 2015 debut in Phoenix.
