Els

Stick your tongue out, Ernie!

Ernie Els is not happy with the European Tour’s increased playing requirements, where competitors are being required to make starts two of the last three events leading into Dubai to be eligible for the $8 million season finale. He’s so upset that he’s skipping next week’s flagship final event in Dubai, according to Andrew Both’s Reuters report

Dustin grabs on and bring 'er home

Dustin grabs on and bring ‘er home

In a hard-fought battle between three world-class players, Dustin Johnson clinched the most significant victory of his career (so far) at the HSBC Champions at Sheshan International Golf Club. On the back nine the 29-year-old American played a key stretch of five holes at five-under, including a chip-in on the short par-4 16th.

Kiss that ball!

Kiss the ball!

Despite rolling in 10 birdies and playing one of the best rounds of his life on Saturday in the third round of the HSBC Champions, Dustin Johnson walked off Sheshan International rather disappointed. He fired a six-under 66, but he wasn’t jumping for joy afterwards because of his poor finish and missed opportunity to open a five-shot lead heading into the final round after making a double-bogey on the reachable-in-two par-5 18th.

kaymer

After opening with scores of  70-74, Martin Kaymer would have been thrilled with a solid weekend and perhaps sneaking in a top 10 finish. While he’s still trailing leader Dustin Johnson by eight shots, Kaymer went out and fired a record-breaking 10-under 62 to surge up the leaderboard.

These guys look right at home!

You may have seen these photos already from earlier this week, but internet connection in China is rough, to say the least.

Five of the world’s leading golfers today joined performers from a renowned Chinese opera company to celebrate the return of “Asia’s Major” to Shanghai. I really have no words.

Oh, I did find out today that the Chinese are big fans of Jason Dufner — they really like him and think he’s “cute.” His mystique apparently transcends cultures and language barriers!

Please caption this photo of Phil Mickelson and Ian Poulter. It needs to be done:

Dustin Johnson has a lot of fans in China

Dustin Johnson soared up the leaderboard, firing a nine-under 63 that included 10 birdies and one bogey to steer him five clear of the field as he heads into the weekend at the HSBC Champions. Johnson usurped his long-hitting, bomber style of play to overpower Sheshan International Golf Club, rolling in birdies on six of his first seven holes to quickly catch first-round leader Rory McIlroy.

Tiger vs. Rory, Part 2

Tiger vs. Rory, Part 2

As I’m in line boarding my flight to Shanghai, I realized I hadn’t put a note up here about my plans — while I have mentioned it on Twitter, but not everyone does social media — and I probably should share with you guys!

I’m heading to China for the next two and a half weeks…to exploit my Chinese-ness and Mandarin-speaking skills. JUST KIDDING.
