There was an especially excited feeling in the air at the Memorial Tournament early Friday evening — the kind that only one player can stir up. Tiger Woods, of course. He birdied three of his first six holes to jump atop the ‘board with the leaders in the clubhouse, Spencer Levin and Scott Stallings. He looked in fine form and found the consistency he was struggling with in his last few starts.
A weather delay in the morning pushed tee times back an hour and 50 minutes. The storm also drastically changed conditions. The weather also did a one-eighty. The temperature dropped significantly and the wind picked up as the morning wave finished their rounds and the afternoon wave teed off.
For the most part, Woods was playing like the guy who won two months ago at Bay Hill.
His momentum came to a halt at the par-5 11th when he missed a three-footer for birdie. Then, he hit an awful tee shot on the par-3 12th, which ended up way over the green to the left. From there, he took two chips to reach the green and two-putted for a double-bogey. Ouch.
To be fair, he’s hanging in there and he’s now three-under for the tournament through 14, with four to play, including a par-5. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, barring a miracle, Rory McIlroy is set to miss his third consecutive cut. With two holes to play, Rory is seven-over today and six-over total. The projected cut line is three-over. I have to double-check, but I don’t think Rory has EVER had three weekends off in a row…*Update: he actually has — in 2008 on the European Tour.
Feel free to drop your thoughts on Tiger, Rory, Levin, Stallings, Furyk, anyone and anything.

If God has a sense of humor and I’m sure he does — we will see a Woods and Sabbatini pairing tomorrow.
is that Chris writing in squares now?…..now that’s talent….
Not squares; it’s simplified Chinese fonts actually.
I can’t (more like I refuse to read it) read it; but I recognize it.
Speaking of Rory Sabbatini … has anyone seen that other Rory this week?? — you know the one with all the curly hair.
Me thinks Rory needs to spend less time on top of Caroline and more time on the range. But can’t say I blame him
Conditions are brutal, and course is tough, you aren’t going to make it through these rounds unscathed. Two over par holes over the first two days is impressive, even though both were doubles
Looking forward to the weekend
ROARS back! Not so much.
C’s Comment,

I am waiting for this very unstable tiger and threw it on the pitch punched. Obviously, he can not control their emotions. Nicklaus, Palmer, Watson, always, always put a club, or smashed one of their bags, take purposeful turf, rather than losses with reporters, swear loudly, etc. these guys compare Tiger impossible . Tiger is the biggest bum in sports today. Vomiting may not keep up his things in his pants, his gorgeous and faithful wife giving birth. Went with several women, while your wife is pregnant? Hey, go tigers! The only reason is because the rest of his sponsor he dumped the money. They have the same moral Tiger.
(You get the idea? Must be “Chris”)
