Do you know what’s better than coffee (and perhaps more important, an alarm clock)? Four adorable little Shipnucks! Alright, I’m about to head out to Pebble Beach to check in and all that fun stuff, but other than that, do I even know what I’m doing? Sorta. I’ll be trawling the practice areas to try and chat with players (Mondays are fantastic for that), walking the course (for the first time ever!), taking heaps of pictures and perhaps some video. This afternoon I’m attending a TaylorMade event with Dustin Johnson and I’m told I’ll get a few minutes with him.
As always, if you have tips and suggestions, please feel free to pass them along — I’m here to give you, the reader, what you want. Duh.
Here’s the USGA media conference schedule:
I’ll definitely attend a good number of them, but it may be more valuable to spend my time trying to chat with players who won’t be holding official pressers. Alright, let’s hope I don’t get lost. I’m curious to see what the media parking situation is…

Thanks for being the eyes and ears for those of us not able to attend the Open. My son and I went to the Open at Shinnecock. Found it fun to set up on one hole (away from the crowds) and have a front row seat to action. Look forward to your thoughts and photos. Always great stories to tell at an event such as this!
Hi Stephanie,
Make sure you check out the second shot on 8. It’s the best second shot in golf. Also, 7th hole and 14th greens are must see and writes!!! If you can ask players about the shots on those you will have ALOT of info to write about. I caddied for Eric Axley yesterday and Ross Fisher played with us. Both talked about the third shot into 14. Great stories about fear while standing over shots that all golfers can relate to. Good luck with parking! Enjoy the week. Let me know if I can help with any background on the course.
#14 was pretty scary back in February, remember seeing quite a few bogeys there – brutal up hill par 5. With the US open green’s, its even harder to imagine the ball staying on that green. Might want to check out the pitching area just over the back of the green, to the left side of the green as you are walking from tee to green.
Really what I want to see is just more candid type reporting, good quotes from players, and a general vibe of the course.
Hello Stephanie.
Your doing a fantastic job of keeping us posted on the events during the tournament. Keep up the good work!
Wish I was there in person too. Thanks to you, it feels like we are just a little bit. Look forward to your commentary and your photos and possible video too. Thanks again.
@Bob
Would very much like to hear more of that sort of stuff. It’s very easy to forget how difficult these courses are setup. All these players are SO excellent around the greens that you just don’t notice it as much on TV.
SW – I’d like to hear what your plans are for the actual rounds thurs-sun. What you need is a cart. Or a Segwei!
#1 and #2′s love children should create atleast one question, yuh’d think.
