MUST-WATCH VIDEO: Tiger Woods talks for real (fine, he was 14)

If you watch one thing this weekend, then it has to be the above interview from Trans World Sport in 1990 with a 14-year-old Tiger Woods. I mean, wow, it’s mind-blowing.

Tiger is incredibly insightful and intelligent, not to mention candid. And of course, there’s this wonderful sense of youth and innocence.

I recommend watching the entire interview and wait until the end — for his comments on race and the Augusta National.

Rory’s Tree

AUGUSTA, Ga. — “Is this where Rory ended up?”

That’s the first question the man in the yellow hat with “The Masters” in green stitching on the front is confronted with. He’s the longtime marshal on the left side of the 10th hole here at Augusta National Golf Club and as each passer-by approaches, he knows what’s coming next. The question.

Tiger Woods ready to resume major championship chase at The Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. — He spent his day here dressed from neck to toe in all black, looking like Johnny Cash with a Nike contract, making everyone remember the days when he presence on this golf course seemed to be good for at least a two-stroke cushion. With one win almost two weeks ago, Tiger Woods has been declared back. Ready to go. Ready to win his fifth Green Jacket. Ready to resume his chase for 18.

The Masters 2012: Adam Scott returns to the site of the major he lost … only he doesn’t believe that

Andrew Redington/Getty Images

AUGUSTA, Ga. — In the blinding mid-afternoon sun, Adam Scott was busy finding himself answering more of the same questions. He had just finished doing his weekly session with the media, when he was intercepted coming out of the back door by a familiar friend in the Australian media. The request was for a little bit of alone time for the usual inquiries: What happened in the final round of The Masters last year and how is he going to correct it this year.

Dear Green Coats: Give Ernie His Invite, Please.

Another Sunday, another letdown for Els.

Oh no, Ernie, you did it again. The Sunday before last, I watched him play those final three holes at Innisbrook’s Copperhead course, and let’s just say, it went from joyful to hopeful to heartbreaking real fast.

The South African golfer headed into the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational with a shot at redemption and securing an invitation to next week’s Masters. He entered the day tied for third and the OWGR number-crunchers estimated a solo second would do the trick and bump Els from No. 62 to the top 50 in the world rankings, which would earn him a spot in the field. In Obvious News Today: Tiger Bummed Out by Haney Book

In better times...

I’m sure it comes to a major surprise by all that Tiger Woods isn’t happy former instructor Hank Haney wrote a “tell-all” about their six years of working together, which is set to hit bookshelves the week before the Masters (ouch). Despite Tiger’s disdain, he continues to stress his appreciation of all Haney’s assistance (high road!), according to ESPN.com’s Bob Harig: (continue reading…)

Tiger Injury Update: Boot and No Golf Since the Masters?

The shot where Tiger hurt himself at the Masters

Tiger Woods announced on Tuesday that he incurred an injury during the third round of the Masters, forcing him to skip next week’s Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow. First of all, it’s interesting Tiger called to apologize to tournament directors for missing an event that he hadn’t even entered. (Maybe he should have called The Heritage and New Orleans, too??)
