Westwood’s Level-Headed Perspective on Golfers’ Salaries

Lee and caddie Billy Foster joshing around

Coming off the “best golf” he’s ever played at last week’s Thailand Golf Champiomship, world No. 2 Lee Westwood admitted he believes golfers are overpaid, especially compared to  police officers and teachers (not to mention journalists), according to The Independent’s James Corrigan.

The Englishman, who surpassed Ernie Els on Sunday as the European Tour’s career-leading money winner, also points out that compared to pros in other sports, it isn’t so bad, especially since golfers don’t get paid if they play poorly. (continue reading…)

Westy’s Win in Thailand Takes Him Back to Number Two

Westwood: If only there were a major in Asia...

Lee Westwood put on a rather impressive clinic at the Thailand Golf Championship last week, snagging his third victory in Asia by a decisive seven shots over Masters champ Charl Schwartzel. Westwood fired 12-under 60 in the opening round and followed it with a 64 (in windy conditions — arguably a better round than the first, he tweeted) to match the Asian Tour’s lowest 36-hole total.

Daly Knocks On Dylan’s Door

Wearing a ridiculous-looking American-flag blazer, John Daly graced a crowd at the Thailand Golf Championship with his rendition of Bob Dylan’s Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door — which is (surprisingly) good and worth the listen. So we salute you, JD, but not the jacket. (continue reading…)

Video: Better Throw a Provisional, Sergio

Sergio Garcia showed off his stellar club-tossing skills on the par-3 eighth at the Thailand Golf Championship, held at Amata Spring Country Club in Chonburi. After dunking his first tee shot into the drink, he pushed the second one 30 yards right of the green. Then, he decided his 4-iron was better off in the water, as well.

Anyone know if ShotLink got a yardage on that one? (continue reading…)

Lee Westwood Is Quite Good at Golf

Westwood shot a career-best 60 in the opening round of the Thailand Golf Championship.

Worksop’s finest, Lee Westwood, got off to a blistering start at the Thailand Golf Championship at Amata Springs Country Club this morning, carding a 12-under-par 60 to take a five-shot lead over John Daly (yes, that John Daly). (continue reading…)

  • About Me

Hi! My name is Stephanie Wei. I grew up in Seattle. I live in Manhattan, NYC. I played competitive golf for ten years in the junior and college ranks. I went to Yale, where I played on the women's golf team and graduated in '05 with a B.A. in History.

I still enjoy pegging it, but don't ask me my handicap because I stopped keeping one when I left for college. More important, I'm feisty and I like to smile a lot. I also love sports, spandex and surprises.
