Adorable couple!

Former world no. 1 tennis player Caroline Wozniacki donned a white jumpsuit and caddied for her boyfriend Rory McIlroy in the Par 3 Contest, which takes place the day before the Masters kicks off at Augusta National. Wozniacki was given the opportunity to hit a shot, and well, let’s just say she would have been better off serving it or hitting a moonball.

Wozza is in Augusta this week cheering on Rory

Caroline Wozniacki is spending the week in Augusta to support her boyfriend Rory McIlroy. On Sunday evening, she revealed to fellow Dane Thorbjorn Oleson, who is making his Masters debut, on Twitter that she would be caddying for McIlroy in Wednesday’s Par 3 Contest.

Strangely, she has since deleted her reply to Oleson, but the tweet still appears in the conversation thread via Oleson’s account. Here’s a screenshot:

Don’t count out Rory at Augusta!

Rory McIlroy came up just short of capturing the Valero Texas Open title, but he was perfectly fine with the result — he achieved everything he intended with his last-minute decision to play in San Antonio.

The world no. 2 shot a final-round six-under 66, -12 total, which he thought might be good enough for the win, but Martin Laird fired an impressive nine-under 63, including birdies on the last three holes to best McIlroy by three shots.  (continue reading…)

Rory feels like his game is coming around

Rory Mcilroy reeled off two birdies at Redstone Golf Club to close out the final round of the Shell Houston Open. The world no. 2 shot a two-under 70 and four-under total, which will put him at a mediocre middle-of-the-pack finish.

Good news is he’s getting closer to feeling ready for the Masters — and he’s making putts — but he still needs to work on his course management.  (continue reading…)

After shooting a pair of 67s at the Shell Houston Open, Steve Wheatcroft is leading a PGA Tour event for the first time in his career. And he got into the tournament — which boasts some big names, like Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy — the hard way: He earned one of the hard-pressed four spots in the Monday qualifier (go low or go home), but it wasn’t without a bit of grief. Rory headed to the Alamo!

Just before the 5pm EST deadline, Rory McIlroy committed to play in next week’s Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio – which is a huge victory for the tournament.

It must have been a very last-minute decision because after Rory shot a two-under 70 for a two-day total of one-under, he told reporters that he wasn’t planning to enter.

McIlroy looking to get his groove back in Houston

Rory McIlroy doesn’t per se mind that Tiger Woods has displaced him as the world no. 1. After all, it takes some attention away from McIlroy, who is more concerned with his swing path than his ranking.

The 23-year-old from Northern Ireland enters the Shell Houston Open this week as the world’s no. 2, trying to build from the momentum he found a few weeks ago at Doral just 14 days before the Masters kicks off. (continue reading…)
