Sun Mountain Guy Defends Lisa Pavin

Sun Mountain Sports president Rick Reimers did a hard-hitting Q&A with Golf World about the malfunctioning rain suits the U.S. team used at the Ryder Cup.

Hey, it’s a slow news week — well, at least in the golf world.

The first thing that stood out to me is they still don’t know what was wrong with the waterproofs.

“We still have not heard specifically from them what the actual problem was. … I found one of the extra jackets here, and we opened it up. Golf Digest‘s style expert, Marty Hackel, waxed lyrical about the “historically respectful, classic but modern collection using current materials” that Lisa Pavin (better known to some as Captainess) collaborated on with designers Peter Millar and Hickey Freeman. The uniforms were inspired by iconic golfers of the past, like Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson.

Lisa Pavin Wants to Be a (Ryder Cup) Trophy Wife

In case you’ve been concerned, I didn’t jump off my roof after reading the profile of Lisa Pavin in this month’s Avid Golfer – rather I’ve been enjoying some R&R. I stayed in from Fashion’s Night Out this Friday evening to catch up on my neglected blog, and more important, a closer study of the lengthy article on the Captainess.

  • About Me

Hi! My name is Stephanie Wei. I grew up in Seattle. I live in Manhattan, NYC. I played competitive golf for ten years in the junior and college ranks. I went to Yale, where I played on the women's golf team and graduated in '05 with a B.A. in History.

I still enjoy pegging it, but don't ask me my handicap because I stopped keeping one when I left for college. More important, I'm feisty and I like to smile a lot. I also love sports, spandex and surprises.

I'm a freelance writer and reporter, as well as a contributor for Sports Illustrated Golf+.
