John Daly to Vijay: Don’t do it!

Screen Shot 2013-05-10 at 11.19.14 AM

John Daly has some words of wisdom for Vijay Singh, who filed a lawsuit against the PGA Tour on Wednesday. Daly tweeted, “VJ don’t do this horrible advice you got off take it from me not worth it #friendlyadvice.”

Daly would know. In 2007 the two-time major champion filed a lawsuit against a number of parties, including the PGA Tour. That didn’t end so well. (continue reading…)

The John Daly saga: And then there was 10

John Daly always makes things interesting

John Daly posted a score of 10 or higher on one hole for the 15th time at the Tampa Bay Championship on Friday. There’s no official record of this compelling stat (but there should be, hint hint!), but to the media’s knowledge, Daly probably ranks first in this category.

Daly carded a sextuple-bogey 10 on the par-4 third hole at Innisbrook in the second round. Golf Channel’s Jason Sobel recounts the action: (continue reading…)

Blast from the past: John Daly and Tiger Woods when they were innocent(-looking)…

When John Daly was the best-dressed golfer in a foursome...

Thanks to TXQ for passing along the link to the above picture that John Daly posted on Facebook. Here now, we have a young Daly (21) and an even younger Tiger Woods (11-ish), along with two other guys — the one to the far left Daly tagged as “Chad Dawson.” (continue reading…)

Scenes from the third round at the 2012 PGA Championship

Ominous...

As you know, play was suspended on Saturday afternoon due to a dangerous weather situation with 26 players still on the course. Naturally, it happened just when things were starting to get interesting, but it was probably for the best since Tiger Woods was ready to implode after making three bogeys in four holes (and was just about to miss another putt for par).

While he began to slide down the leaderboard, Rory McIlroy had started his charge, rolling off five birdies in the first eight holes before the only blemish on his scorecard on the first nine — a bogey on the 9th.

The delay looked like it would be most beneficial to Tiger and a (potential) momentum-killer for Vijay Singh, Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy.

I thought the best way to tell the story of what transpired on Saturday and Sunday morning was through pictures…and I love clouds, which anyone following me on Twitter and/or Instagram (see icons at the top of the site to follow along for inside the ropes coverage) have probably noticed. Oh, this is also pretty cool, in my opinion, at least. (continue reading…)

Shock: Tiger Woods winning drives ratings! 188%, to be exact.

Fans <3 Tiger

There are two — maybe three or four — players that move the needle: Tiger Woods, John Daly, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy. This has been my conclusion from the sizes of galleries I’ve witnessed at tournaments and from the numbers (traffic) I receive on my site in response to posts on these individuals.

So it’s no surprise that CBS ratings for the final round of the AT&T National increased by 188% compared to last year — Tiger didn’t play in ’11 due to injury. The media blast via CBS Sports: (continue reading…)

Day One in Qatar: Every Time You Think He’s Finished, He Pulls You Back In!

Didn't think this guy would be making an appearance, did you?

The European Tour’s lucrative roll along the Gulf coast continues this week, and while the Commercialbank Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy (henceforth, the Qatar Masters) can’t quite muster the glamour of its bigger, brasher sister, the Abu Dhabi Championship, its first round was far from lacking in both excitement and oddity. Five Train Wrecks in 2011 That Still Make Us Cringe

@#$%^&*%

As the year ends (which is happening way too quickly), we’re taking a look at the highlights and lowlights of 2011. First, we checked out the best shots. Next, we — with most of the credit going to Intern Shoshana – review the greatest meltdowns, where the pros remind us they’re human, and the most epic choke jobs (to to use Johnny Miller’s favorite word) of 2011, another category that needs no introduction.
