Notah and Tiger put the smackdown on the Asian Invasion

Notah and his little bro

Well, no ones cares about the atmosphere on Wednesday at the Deutsche Bank Championship and other interesting tidbits, aka gossip on the range. like the handful of Americans who have one last week to make a case and impress Team USA captain Davis Love III before he announces his four wildcard picks on Tuesday morning… right?

Okay, that’s what I thought, but in case you do, the short version: pretty chill and most relaxed and friendly I’ve seen it in months, with the exception of the half-dozen guys who are freaking out about making the Ryder Cup. (continue reading…)

LPGA star wars: Cristie strikes back! (*Update)

Hold the finish... hold it....

Former US Open champion Cristie Kerr returned to Twitter yesterday afternoon to reject – emphatically, repeatedly – suggestions she is a callous, uncharitable prima donna. (continue reading…)

Sophie Gustafson outed Cristie Kerr for being a b*tch

Sophie Gustafson: honesty the only policy.

Sophie Gustafson endured a difficult day at the US Women’s Open Friday, shooting a dismal 77 at Blackwolf Run to scrape inside the cut-line.

The score tells its own story – specifically one of a player struggling to come to terms with the season’s most demanding layout – but it neglects to touch on a couple of issues, not least the Swede’s spiky collision with a former US Open champion.

Yani Expects Putts to Drop Today

Just wasn't Yani's day...

World No. 1 golfer Yani Tseng started slow in the first round of the season-ending CME Group Titleholders, but rallied to card birdies in three of the final four holes. Yani, who is having one of the best seasons in LPGA history, shot a ho-hum two-under 70, leaving her four shots behind the first-round leader Na Yeon Choi.

Yani actually played much better than she scored. (continue reading…)

Twenty Minutes to Second Best for U.S.; Charging Euros Win!

The Charge of the Fight Brigade

Congrats to the European squad for their impressive victory over the Americans at the Solheim Cup.

It was looking like the Americans were going to pull off an unlikely victory about a half-hour earlier. Europe and U.S. were tied at 12 1/2 points apiece.

Michelle Wie rolled in a clutch 15-footer on 17, putting some pressure on Suzann Pettersen, who had thrown a dart to roughly four feet (Wie had also made a clutch putt on 15 to go 1-up, but Pettersen responded with a birdie on 16.); rookie extraordinaire Ryann O’Toole was 2-up with two to play over Caroline Hedwall; Angela Stanford had just squared up her match against Azahara Munoz. Pettersen Outlasts Kerr to End Victory Drought

Pettersen wins

After Suzann Pettersen’s 15-footer for birdie disappeared in the cup on the 18th green at Hamilton Farm in Gladstone, New Jersey, she dropped her putter and threw her arms in the air in celebration. Finally.

In an intense match, Pettersen beat Cristie Kerr 1-up to capture the Sybase Match Play Championship, putting an end to her 20-month winless streak. For someone who finished runner-up six times last season, it felt like much longer. (continue reading…)
