Here’s another post on my three-day fam trip/boondoggle/junket (which means it was courtesy of the generous Canadian government) to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia.
When we arrived at the much-anticipated Cabot Links in Inverness on Sunday afternoon, several commented that the view of the course from inside the clubhouse looked like Castle Stuart in Scotland — which I haven’t played, but I bet if I showed someone a picture of Cabot, they would guess we were across the pond. Here’s the second part to my three-day fam trip/boondoggle/junket (which means it was courtesy of the Canadian government) to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia.

We took the scenic route — literally — from Ingonish to Inverness (the other side of the island) through the Cabot Trail on Sunday morning before playing an afternoon 18 at Cabot Links. And yes, we sure made the most of our time on Cape Breton Island. (continue reading…)

I’m sorry for all the teasing, but sometimes things get in the way.
I’ve been happy to hear the enthusiastic response from WUP’s Facebook and Twitter followers, especially people who have already looked into planning a trip to Cabot Links — “The Bandon of the East” (Mike Keiser, the guy behind Bandon Dunes, is one of the guys behind this project…) — when it officially opens next year (including one of my heroes!). (continue reading…)
Like I said, I’m late for the group whiskey tasting soiree (we’re staying at a Whiskey Distillery in Cape Breton Island), but I just wanted to post a few teaser pics from my round at Cabot Links this afternoon — which I thoroughly enjoyed despite the cold weather and my back pain. The course isn’t finished yet — only 10 holes opened to the public in July — but we had the privilege of playing all 18. (continue reading…)
