In the wake of the USGA and R&A announcement on Wednesday, I surveyed a bunch of players at Q-school for SI/Golf.com and asked them if they were for or against the anchoring ban. Golf.com’s Mike Walker made the pretty graphic above.
It was interesting that several guys changed their vote overnight because they had watched Golf Channel or ESPN and heard Tiger Woods talk about why it should be banned. See, informed voters! — he even converted a current belly putter user.
It’s times like these where Tiger’s in-depth knowledge and understanding of the game comes in handy/ more important, gives very good explanations.
I also collected quotes from a bunch of players. See the full post at Golf.com.

Exactly how many players did you ask?
ban all putters and increase hole size
MIKE – its in the article; 41 players…
I’m in favor of the anchoring ban and the new rule the USGA proposed: 26 (63.4%)
I’m against the anchoring ban: 10 (24.3%)
I really don’t care either way: 5 (12%)
