PGA Tour rookie Keegan Bradley, who captured the PGA Championship earlier this month at Atlanta Athletic Club, is having a fairytale kind of month that usually only happens in movies. The native of Woodstock, Vermont, who spent his senior year in high school in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, is a huge Red Sox fan and threw out the first pitch of Tuesday’s opener of the three-game series against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park.
“It’s unbelievable to be here in Fenway and to be able to throw out the first pitch is a dream come true,” said Bradley, 25. “I’m just trying to pinch myself.”
Bradley said he practiced diligently on his delivery.
“As soon as I pulled into the ballpark, my hands started to sweat,” he said. “I got butterflies in my stomach. I’ll be very nervous.”
Bradley said he practiced throwing two days ago, but played catch for too long, causing his arm to feel sore, according to ESPN Boston.
“All my boys in New England and in Boston have already told me if I bounce it in or throw it over the [catcher’s] head that I’m never going to hear the end of it. Let’s hope I throw a strike.”
Though Keegan’s pitch was a tad high, the catcher had no problem grabbing the ball. Bradley celebrated his successful first pitch with an enthusiastic fist pump. Here’s the YouTube clip:
Bradley, who missed the cut last week at the weather-shortened Barclays, the first leg of the FedExCup playoffs, is competing in the Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton, Mass. Remember — first round play kicks off on Friday, rather than the usual Thursday start because of Labor Day weekend. No doubt the New Englander will have home-field advantage and a massive crowd cheering him on at TPC Boston.

He looks like he is 13.
He is so deserving and so humble. Why can’t we have more professional athletes like Keegan?
GO YANKS.
He should have taken the Long Putter to the mound!
High fade… I mean high right. Ok Keeg, fun is over. Now it’s time to make the President’s cup.
Keegan throws like a girl and as hard as a girl. Much like all Bostonians. Please don’t play on the President’s Cup team. We need athletes, not limp armed girls.
Ouch! Reader Reader
He throws more like Pat Bradley that Keegan Bradley
He should have put a peg in the ground and hit a low punch to the catcher!
Maybe a Tiger like stinger would have done the trick eh Bobby?
Steph — thanks for posting. That “catcher” is a man you should be more familiar with – Dustin Pedroia is a one-of-a-kind. He recently graced the cover of Sports Illustrated (again). Get wise to “Petey”. Little Guy is AWESOME. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1189167/1/index.htm
Bradley throws about as well as most of the Red Sox play golf.
Throwing out the first pitch at Fenway. That would be my dream come true. Congrats to Keegan for achieving your dream.
glad to see he’s enjoying his success. Hope he tears it up in the FedEx series and makes the President’s Cup
