What am I missing with the Tim Clark thing? My putting grip is essentially the same as my normal swing grip, and there's no wrist movement in the putting stroke. He can chip can't he?

I'm not seeing the line of thought on how the PGA Tour will supersede the USGA/R&A here.

The PGA Tour will push back with the 'no supporting data' argument, then the USGA will say the ban wasn't based on any data and will hold its line on anchoring not being a proper stroke. I think they'll hold fast on their current position (maybe concede a longer transition period), and leave the ball in the PGA Tour's court to decide on bifurcation.

My prediction is the Tour will ultimately relent. As the Masters will probably side with the USGA, 3/4 of the Tour's biggest tourney's would have the ban in place and every other pro Tour in the world will likely go with the ban through the R&A.

Does the PGA Tour really want to fight the USGA/R&A just for their members and 1 major? Fight for a scenario that would lead to Tour players being allowed to anchor while amateur's would not? My guess is no, and Mike Davis/Peter Dawson will think that too.

This sounds like it's going to a be a really long saga and we won't see the end of it for some time.

I think a lot of the people making the decisions at the R & A should be focusing on more important issues in the game of golf. For one, like trying to slow down technology on equipment so they don't have to keep making golf courses longer.

I am a retired PGA of America member. . . The golfers who provide the primary financial support to the golf industry - through dues, fees, purchases do generally play by the rules of golf. . . If the PGA Tour chooses to ignore the USGA/R&A on this issue - it will - and should - lead to a bifurcation wherein products and techniques can be different for the Tours and high level amateur competitions. . . This actually could be beneficial - the average golfer might benefit from currently "illegal" technology and the Tours could roll back golf ball distance - which the USGA has not had the courage to do - largely to protect average players.
