@Tim G, I’m sorry if you weren’t a fan of the “drunk frat boy” comment, but I think you’re taking some of my writing too literal. the “generalization” is a stereotype that i was using as a figure of speech.
most of my friends were in fraternities, so i posed this whole non-controversy controversy as a a hypothetical to a 6 or 7 of them, and none were offended. I was in a sorority and if someone used the expression “drunk sorority girl,” I wouldn’t bat an eye.. But in the future, I’ll be mindful of your comments and perhaps replace “drunk frat boy” with “drunk college student” etc.
As for “arrogant Ivy-Leaguer,” sorry if you think I came across as one, but fair enough. I’d actually use that “generalization” in a story to describe someone who I thought was acting like one. Doesn’t bother me. It’s actually amusing because there’s a hint of truth to that stereotype but any person with any semblance of a brain, knows that it doesn’t apply to the entire student body at all 8 ivy institutions.
Going forward, I’ll try to refrain from acting like an arrogant Ivy Leaguer.

Were these in fact rent a cops as you call them? I’ve never been one, but authority is authority if they are getting paid. If they carry a firearm, they are a cop. Just like the father of four who was gunned down in NYC this week by some cretin.

He was breaking about five laws actually. Maybe because he is who he is, he can do what he wants. I mean I guess if five guys wanted to park in front of any place and yell out of there repspective limos, why not? Somehow I feel it was not Merry Christmas he was yelling. From my youth, guys usually get like this when they don’t get laid by the “lucky woman” they have chosen for the evening.

Tim. G, Jordan, my points exactly. I respect Stephanie’s site, but she is a journalist. (Journalists can run “blogs” and still be held to high standards.) It’s the potshots for accusations—weak ones for actions that didn’t harm anyone else—that bother me. She’s a tour insider, but likely burned a bridge with Overton here. How can she expect him to give her an interview any time in the near future? She didn’t just report the facts, she made a mockery of the guy. It very much comes across as if she has beef with Overton and is using this post as a measure of revenge.

Simon, you would be correct except she is a credentialed member of the media. So ‘journalism’ is very much a factor. Gossip mags arent given media passes and press box seats. If she submitted credentials to Augusta National as a ‘gossip blog,’ im guessing the outcome may be different. I love the site, was just taken aback by the way this particular post was written compared to others.
No huge deal by any means, but to say a reader cant question something or ask if there is something more to it is a bit short-sighted. Using your theory, quit reading my comments and bug off.
