The Open Championship loves Tom Watson, and Tom Watson loves the Open Championship.
The 61-year-old icon aced the par-3, 178-yard No. 6 with a 7-iron. The shot took a one hop right in the cup. He celebrated by high-fiving playing partner Henrik Stenson.
Good Old Tom is three-under through 8 and one-under for the tournament.
Tom’s ace is the second this week. Dustin Johnson made one on the par-3 No. 16 during the first round.

I saw at http://livereport.pga.com/2011/07/15/t-watson-aces-the-par-3-sixth/ that Watson also had a hole-in-one at the US Open in 1980. I woder if anyone else has ever had an ace at both the US Open and The Open Championship, or does this give Watson sole possession of a rather unique record?
he still swings the stick like he’s 29 years old. way to be the ball Tom!
I thought I heard him say that he hit a 4 iron. It was straight into the wind.
Yup – it was a 4-iron. Typically stellar proofing of the story!…what a legend Watson is though!
