Just wanted to wish a happy birthday to Arnold Palmer. Thanks for all you’ve done for the game — and continue to do.
Back in March for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, I asked PGA Tour pros for anecdotes on the first time they shook Mr. Palmer’s hand. I just dug it up in the archives and re-read it — seems like a fitting tribute. Until earlier this year at Bay Hill, I had yet to shake his hand and made a point to check that off my bucket list. Mission accomplished.
Let’s raise our glasses and toast The King on his 83rd birthday.

I’ve always thought that was a great pecture. Arnie looks like he could crush your hand if he wanted to.
“picture”
I love digging up old Arnie pics…#stud
And “pecture” kinda works, too!
With respect.. Nostalgia is killing Golf. If you listen to the pundits.. Arnie, Jack, Ben, Byron and the rest never missed a shot, never missed putts, and basically did everything perfectly.
Again, I have respect for Mr. Palmer and Happy Birthday, however I blame Jack, Arnold, and the lot for making Golf Courses into expensive, slope and rating monsters that made Golf harder than it should be.
Mr. Palmers modern legacy is building several not so great Golf Courses and making Golf look kinda old…harsh maybe?
Sorry GM, but Arnold Palmer has built plenty of excellent golf courses. I can think of a handful right off the top of my head in the eastern US that I have played. Maybe you need to travel a little more.
I am now not sure the place you are getting your information, however great topic. I must spend a while learning more or figuring out more. Thanks for great info I used to be in search of this info for my mission.
The king Arnold designed my home course here in Indonesia, and everytime I play it gives me different game. Wonderfull course and Happy birthday long live the king….
