Fantasy Golf

It’s time for Fantasy…Golf, that is

Go team!

Go team!

Alright, guys, are you ready for WUP Fantasy Golf 2013? Yep, the PGA Tour season starts on Friday with the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Maui (and if you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, you’re fully aware I’ve been here for a few days already–tough gig but someone’s gotta do it!).

How in the world did that happen? Didn’t the season just end the other week? Pretty much! Plus

I’ve received quite a few inquiries about whether I’m running a Fantasy Golf League(s) again, and the answer is yes, of course! Apologies for only getting the details on signing up to you now, but I love how many people want to participate! (continue reading…)

Are You Into Fantasy? Golf, That Is — Join WUP’s League!

We got hops

Thanks to the multiple readers who emailed inquiring about Fantasy Golf — you guys reminded me to get those started again. I don’t think I’ve quite processed that the 2012 season is right around the corner, but the best part is I’m about to board my flight to Kapalua for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. I mean, it’s already been a year? Not that I’m complaining because it means I get to kick off the year in paradise (it all goes downhill from there!).

It actually feels a bit like Groundhog Day. I just looked up the post re: Fantasy from a year ago and I was also about to hop on the plane to Hawaii. I could actually almost copy and paste the text and just fill in the blanks with this year’s appropriate info and latest news. Which isn’t a terrible idea, so here we go. (continue reading…)

Balls in the Air: Waste Management Open

Welcome to Balls in the Air, where I size up my Fantasy Golf picks of the week, featuring guys to watch (or not) and interesting story lines. Disclaimer: My picks may suck, but I do think through the factors that may weigh in.

Brrrrr: It's cold!

Welcome to the Phoenix Open, the Greatest Show on the Frost, the Tour’s Party Stop, where golf is secondary for the fans and beer is primary. Unfortunately, we’ve had a chilly front come through Scottsdale the past few days. Wednesday’s pro-am was canceled because the greens were frozen. Chances of play on Thursday kicking off as scheduled appear very slim. Golfers playing in the morning wave, check the phones for text message updates and then go back to sleep. Guys in the afternoon wave should just be on-call starting around noon, but realize the odds are slim that they’ll tee off. Bring games and iPads!

What’s Your Fantasy? Who Cares. Join WUP’s Second Fantasy League

These ladies, who hail from Indonesia, are your official Fantasy League cheerleaders! Hooray!

Wait? Where are their pom poms? I considered breaking out my high school cheerleading uniform, poms and all, so I could cheer you all on, but these ladies just look too good (and are willing to show more skin). True professionals, clearly!

Apparently, there was much more demand to join the WUP Fantasy Golf League than I anticipated (which is a good thing, thanks, guys, for your support!). I couldn’t believe it when I started getting e-mails from numerous readers saying it was full — after just one afternoon! Woot woot!  I also didn’t know there was a limit on teams. Good thing there’s an easy solution to this problem.

  • About Me

Hi! My name is Stephanie Wei. I grew up in Seattle. I live in Manhattan, NYC. I played competitive golf for ten years in the junior and college ranks. I went to Yale, where I played on the women's golf team and graduated in '05 with a B.A. in History.

I still enjoy pegging it, but don't ask me my handicap because I stopped keeping one when I left for college. More important, I'm feisty and I like to smile a lot. I also love sports, spandex and surprises.
