When John Daly was the best-dressed golfer in a foursome...
Thanks to TXQ for passing along the link to the above picture that John Daly posted on Facebook. Here now, we have a young Daly (21) and an even younger Tiger Woods (11-ish), along with two other guys — the one to the far left Daly tagged as “Chad Dawson.”
With last week’s BMW Championship at Crooked Stick, where Daly captured the ’91 PGA Championship, he took a trip down memory lane and dug up the picture of golf in the good ol’ days before the baggage, arrests, Hooters, fire hydrants, divorces and rehab, etc.
Ah, when they were so innocent…
I guess this calls for a caption contest. Go for it. Let’s keep it as PG-13 as possible. *Update: R-rated is fine, too, but within reason!

How much money has come and gone from these gentlemen – for airplanes, caddies, ex-wives, gambling, agents & lawyers – likely larger than the GDP of some countries.

It is likely that Daly was already a professional at this point and playing in some sort of pro-am with Tiger and the two other rather junior-looking golfers (also, hence the reason why Daly is wearing slacks). Daly turned pro in 1987 after dropping out of Arkansas.
What is strange (and a bit weird) is that Daly actually kept the photo considering he was the pro in this pro-am group.
A quick Google search reveals that a Chad Dawson was the 1990 Kentucky state high school champion, which would peg him as being around 15 in the photo.
I was there playing in that tournament. Big I at Texarkana CC in Arkansas. Tiger’s coming out party he finished 2nd to Justin Leonard as a 13 year old and got all the local headlines. The little kid was beating all the older ones! The thrill for us that made that cut was that in the 3rd round we got to play with a PGA tour pro. I played with Phil Blackmar.

Daly hasn’t changed a bit! Tiger needs to get back his smile, it seems like he has some demons in his head, plus, he needs his old coach back, he’s way to mechanical these days. His enjoyment level that he use to express is not showing currently. His words, thoughts and physiology are off track currently.
