Hello from the U.S. Open at Erin Hills! Due to popular demand after the WUP Masters Pool, I’ve organized another one for our national championship this week.
More good news: Same deal as last time — it’s FREE to join. Better news: Awesome golf swag again!
The top-three finishers in the Masters Pool Joe Williams, DLT and Mike Widmer can attest to the sweet prizes they received. Joe won a Mizuno driver and DLT got a Cobra fairway wood — hope the clubs are working out for you guys! Meanwhile, Mike’s two dozen Titleist ProV1s are still making their way to him (long story), but he knows he can take my word for it. At least I hope so!
Drum roll, please…
Nikki and I have teamed up to start a podcast! Here’s what we’ve drafted:
Stephanie Wei and Nikki B bring you their fresh and dynamic perspectives on the world of golf. The two former Division I college golfers chat candidly about their experiences and travels — whether it’s following the world’s best golfers inside the ropes on Tour to playing the greatest golf courses on the planet. Their unscripted, candid conversations with the biggest names to the unsung movers and shakers make you feel like you’re at the 19th hole with your regular Sunday foursome.
This young duo provides knowledge, wit and entertaining insight as their rant and rave about everything golf. These ladies know their sh*t.
We pre-recorded a couple of interviews over the weekend with some folks and we have several more lined up and I’m sure we’ll add a few more to the schedule in the next few days. The first episode will drop Tuesday (midday–fingers crossed no tech difficulties).
Nikki and I also will be live-streaming as much as possible across Periscope, Instagram, Facebook Live. I figure we’ll just go with the flow and pick whichever platform we feel like at that moment, but I have a feeling Nikki will be mostly on Instagram. I’m going to try and do a little of all. I’ve only used Insta-Live once, but I have a feeling that will change. I’m sure it will be dominated by Periscope (which is linked to my Twitter).
We’ll also be having roundtables in our house — which is conveniently located about a long-4 from the driving range at Erin Hills — at the end of each day as much as possible. (We’re about as close as you can get and I’ve already been trolling people via social media).

The media hotels and official player hotels are like 45-60 minutes away, and the players and caddies that got houses are about 10-15 miles away.
If you’re following me on Instagram, you’ll have seen that we’ve got a great gang this week. I’m not used to being around so many people and being so social that at one point I had to take a breather and have some solo time. (I mean, I don’t know think I know many people who spend as much time with me, myself and I as much as I do, and actually enjoy random adventure on my own, like the other week in the Faroe Islands.) But this is awesome because I only stay at a house with my work BFFs a few times a year. In fact, I only get to see them once or twice a year since they also cover other sports, like football and hoops, etc.
Perhaps why I’m even more excited for this week is because I’m not the only woman in the house for the first time EVER. I can’t stress how much I love that Nikki is here. I love my big bros/work husbands, but I miss and need girl time that I rarely get.
If you guys caught any of the podcasts and live-streams from the Real World U.S. Open, Chamber Bay edition, and enjoyed those free-wheeling post-round informed but fun roundtables we did that week, then you have an idea of what I’m trying to replicate. I think we received positive feedback and sounded like you wanted more of that kind of content. Well, you’re in luck! — hopefully it’ll feel like you’re here hanging with us!
Stay tuned and follow/like our social accounts!
OK, without further ado, let’s get to the details for the Pool, which will be the same deal as the Masters.
*Tiered pick sheet from six groups
*Winner determined by total strokes
*Standings calculations count ALL six players (instead of letting you throw out the worst one or two, but open to suggestions if anyone has a strong objection to this.)
*Bonus points for finishes in the top 10 (I’m not sure how many points each place should get, so again, suggestions welcome and urged.)
I’m happily eating the cost of running the pool, along with putting together the awesome prizes, but donations are more than welcome and very much appreciated, especially since we’re working on WUP 2.0. Any contribution will help with our vision for the podcast and other behind-the-scenes social media coverage that you won’t find anywhere else.
1. Go here.
2. In the Join Password box, enter ‘wup2017′ (without the single quotes)
3. Fill out the form information, including a personal username and password.
4. Make your picks and log back in to see the results and standings.
If you are interested in joining the pool, please go to the following link and fill out the form:
It’s the same pool ID number as the one from the Masters: 74476.
Returning members can simply log in with their existing username and password. If they’ve forgotten their login information, they can use the ‘Forgot username or password’ link in the login area. (Note: If you’ve deleted their membership in your pool, they can still login, but will need to rejoin your pool after logging in.)
I’m dealing with it and don’t feel like typing it all out right now because I’m exhausted. But it’ll be similar to last time and who knows, perhaps even selections! Just add to the suspense, but I tend to go out of my way to ensure that I back it up and follow through in these situations.
Don’t wait, JOIN now! Please pass this along to your friends and family and everyone you know.
Ready for an awesome week? Let’s do this!
Thanks for your continued support.
