WATCH: Nicolas Colsaerts explains why he didn’t win the PGA Long Drive Contest
By Stephanie Wei under PGA Championship

Nicolas Colsaerts finished third in the PGA Long Drive Competition on Tuesday with a measly 341-yard tee shot on the first hole at Baltusrol GC. He was bested by Rory McIlroy (345 yards) and Byeong Hun An (347 yards).

It was no surprise to see the big-hitting Belgian’s name near the top of the Long Drive leaderboard. In fact, it was more mind-blowing that he *only* hit it 341 yards and didn’t manage to surpass McIlroy.

Colsaerts, who was part of the Miracle at Medinah victorious Ryder Cup team, said he teed off around 1pm Tuesday — you know, when the course was firmer compared to when Rory set the mark early at 8am. However, An had the most favorable conditions at 3:15pm and with a little help from the wind, bested both the long-hitting Europeans (except props to Rory as he’s half the size of Nic height-wise).

I wish I would have captured his response when I initially asked him why he didn’t win the Long Drive Contest, but I wouldn’t have been able to post it, anyway, as it was NSFW. Still, it was hilarious and I can’t even do it justice.

Just watch the the video above. If you appreciate a dry sense of humor (in other words: European), you’ll enjoy and get a good laugh. I mean, there’s a reason Nic is known as “The Dude.” Because some can’t detect a “sarcasm,” remember we are just having a laugh and joking around. (I can’t believe I have to say that, but it’s the internet! Yay!)

Here’s a fun bonus clip during his short game practice session late afternoon Wednesday. Not a big deal, as I’d trust just about every Tour pro to not take me out. Well, maybe not…
