Rickie Fowler came through in the clutch on Monday, holing out from 111 yards with a pitching wedge — which he had borrowed from Luke Donald — in a special 19th hole charity challenge at Old Palm Golf Club that benefited the Ernie Els for Autism event. Oh, yeah, and it was worth $1 million. Yep, Fowler’s ace raised a million bucks for Els’ charity.
The reaction to the moment — in a video captured by Old Palm assistant pro Derek Swoboda — is priceless:
It’s like Fowler — who was wearing sneakers because he had already changed out of his golf shoes following the 18-hole pro-am — was stampeded. Ernie even picked him up in a celebratory fashion.
Meanwhile, Ernie’s wife Liezel was moved to tears, according to Tim Rosaforte.
Well done, Rickie! We’re pumped for Els and his family.
