Mickelson and Kuchar’s caddies to moonlight as on-course reporters
By Stephanie Wei under Caddies

Two of the most respected caddies in the business Jim “Bones” Mackay and John Wood will put aside their regular jobs for two days at Sea Island Golf Club. Mackay, who is the longtime caddie for Phil Mickelson, and Wood, who just switched bags to Matt Kuchar after looping for Hunter Mahan for nine years, will serve as on-course reporters during Golf Channel’s telecast of the second and third rounds of next week’s RSM Classic.

“It’s an honor for Woody and me to have this opportunity on Golf Channel,” said Mackay. “We have gotten to know course reporters very well over the years, and we’re fascinated with everything that goes into producing and covering a professional golf tournament. We are looking forward to being a part of the Golf Channel team next week.”

Wood said: “I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to cover the RSM Classic for Golf Channel. It’s a tremendous honor. I hope Bones and I can bring a unique perspective to golf on the PGA TOUR and that viewers will find interesting what we as caddies are thinking out on the course.”

I love this idea and kudos to Golf Channel for coming up with this innovative concept. Bones and Wood are two of the most articulate caddies in the industry and I couldn’t think of two guys better equipped to provide interesting and intriguing insight from their vantage points on the ground and calling the action of the tournament.

Golf Channel will air live coverage of the RSM Classic from St. Simons Island Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 19-22, from 1-4 p.m.
