Bubba Watson is the proud owner of one of the official General Lee cars from the hit TV show in the late 1970s “Dukes of Hazzard.” The car, of course, has a Confederate flag emblazoned on the top. In light of recent events, Watson announced via Twitter that he will be painting over it with an American flag.

Call me a cynic, but perhaps this is a publicity stunt. Still, either way, it doesn’t really matter because it’s the right move.
The controversy over the Confederate flag heightened and became a hot-button topic in the national news after the June 17th shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, where nine African-Americans were killed in a church. Photos of the suspect Dylann Roof came to light with him and the Confederate flag.
The two-time Masters champion and winner of the Travelers Championship this past Sunday is playing in this week’s Greenbrier Classic. He opened the first round with a three-under 67 and stands in a tie for 27th.
