In case you missed the live interviews on Periscope — since it was dark-o-clock in the U.S. — I spoke with Nicolas Colsaerts, Luke Donald, Matteo Manassero and Mikko Ilonen this morning at Wentworth, the site of the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship. (Don’t worry, I asked if I could use the live-streaming app in advance and received permission from the European Tour, which has different media regulations, and I’m pretty much allowed to Periscope until the cows come home from Monday-Wednesday.)
Next, I spoke with Luke Donald:
Then, I talked with Matteo Manassero on the first tee and he discussed his strategy on playing the hole:
Finally, I had a fun chat with Mikko Ilonen:
These are obviously quite raw (and totally winged), but I think that’s kind of the beauty of it all — it’s an alternative means of engaging fans, sharing content and promoting the European Tour and its players. I was planning on going out on the course with a player or two and doing a walk and talk with them on how to play the hole, but then it started pouring and I have to run now as I have a commitment in London.
More to come tomorrow!
