Hello! Sorry it’s been a few days since I’ve posted, but I’ve had a pretty hectic couple of weeks and needed to catch up on sleep.
As you know, my credentials were revoked for the remainder of the PGA Tour season, so I’m doing my best to turn lemons into lemonade. (Don’t worry, I can still cover the majors!) Thus, I decided to head across the pond and cover the BMW PGA Championship, the European Tour’s flagship event, where world no. 1 Rory McIlroy is defending champion. I leave tonight.
Then, I’ll be continuing my trip in the United Kingdom and popping by the Irish Open at Royal County Down. This will be the first year that McIlroy is hosting the event, with his foundation receiving all charitable proceeds, so that’s very exciting.
I’ve never been to Northern Ireland and I’m really looking forward to covering both tournaments. I’ve heard only wonderful things and they should be a good experience. After all, I’ve always said I wanted to cover more European Tour events! — I enjoy traveling internationally and exploring new cities and cultures and you guys get behind-the-scenes coverage at Europe’s most prestigious tournaments, so this turns out to be a win-win.
I’m going to do my best to fit in some golf while I’m in the London area and Newcastle, so if you have any course suggestions, please send them my way.
Unfortunately, I’ll only be in Northern Ireland until Friday, May 29, as I have to rush back to the States to attend my ten-year college reunion (gasp!).
Be sure to follow me on Periscope — my handle is the same as my Twitter: @StephanieWei. I have a surprise (well, kinda) to unveil in the next couple of weeks in Europe.
Off to catch a plane now! See you soon.
