Welcome to this year’s edition of the WUP Holiday Gift Guide. It’s not quite as fancy as last year’s — no special photoshoot — but I think there’s more diversity and a variety of options in different price ranges, so you can find a special gift for your golfer friends and family.
Happy Holidays!

Believe it or not, this is my first rangefinder. How in the world did I survive for so long without one? Well, easy (kind of)— there are people called caddies; there's the old-fashioned way of getting yardages (pacing them off); there's eyeing it; there are your playing partners who all have them; and this past year, I also had the Bushnell Neo XS (which I very much recommend). Why did it take so long for me to get one? Well, I was convinced my hand shook too much to get the correct yardage, but with the technology of rangefinders these days, that's no longer a problem, especially with the new Pro X7 Jolt. When you aim the Pro X7 at the flag, JOLT Technology will provide short vibrating bursts to reinforce that Bushnell’s advanced PinSeeker Technology has isolated the target and locked onto the flag -- this eliminates any doubt that you have the exact distance to the flag. The Pro X7 Jolt offers Vivid Display Technology, so this provides a brighter display and the red numbers of your yardages practically jump off the screen. Also, with the 2nd generation E.S.P. technology, it provides yardage five times faster and more accurately than ever before. Not only has the acquisition speed been increased to a lightning fast level, E.S.P. provides 1/2 yard accuracy from five to 125 yards, and the distance is displayed to 1/10th of a yard. The only downside you might find is with the price -- the Pro X7 Jolt goes for $499 at retail ($599 with slope). Another option you might want to try is the Bushnell Tour Z6 Jolt ($399). But, trust me, you definitely get your money's worth. MSRP: $499 bushnellgolf.comBushnell Pro X7 Jolt Rangefinder

The industry’s first real-time GPS Stat Tracking System, Arccos maps, measures and records every shot taken during a round of golf. Using GPS and Bluetooth technology, the system automatically captures critical data – club distances, putts per round, greens hit in regulation, driving accuracy and more – to help players identify patterns and refine strategy. Simply attach each sensor to the grip end of the club and pair directly with the free iPhone app. There's no need to tap, touch or interfere with the pre-swing routine. Arccos instantly tracks your game in real-time so you can see specific stats and review performance during or after each round. Be sure to read my comprehensive review on Arccos -- http://www.weiunderpar.com/post/the-future-of-the-game-arccos-golf. This apparel company has quickly become my go-to brand when it comes to layering and protection from the elements — whether it be rain, cold, wind or all of the above. I recommend any of their pieces, especially their high-performance rain gear, which is the best seller in the UK. For a men’s layering piece, try the “Daniel,” a warming INSULA pullover. It’s a very light and flexible garment with excellent breathability. The soft and stretchy material insulates body heat while ensuring breathability by releasing moisture and excess heat. The sport design is available is several color combinations and it’s a perfect intermediate layer when extra warmth is needed for fall/winter golf (unless you live in, say, Florida or Arizona). galvingreen.comGalvin Green — “Daniel” Pullover

For women, I highly recommend the “Dakota” full zip jacket — I wear mine ALL the time, especially when I was in Scotland for the Ryder Cup and when I played some fall ball over the last few months. I almost can’t imagine life (on the course) without it at this point! It’s a very light and flexible garment with fantastic breathability. The soft and stretchy material insulates body heat while still releasing moisture and extra heat. I love the feminine cut that features three colors with a sport look. It’s the perfect intermediate layer when extra warmth is required. galvingreen.comGalvin Green — “Dakota” Full Zip Jacket

This Oregon-based woolen golf accessories brand has quickly become a WUP favorite over the last few years. The company specializes in making equipment that adorn a golfer’s lifestyle by creating the finest tartan wool golf head covers that blend traditional European inspirations with modern lines and simplicity The shell of each golf headcover and accessory is carefully paired with a soft, quick-drying, lightweight industrial outdoor fleece, adding a complimentary pop of color that highlights the identity and personality of the exterior. It’s hard to narrow down just a few items to recommend for gifts because there are so many great options, but one of my favorites is the Red Lamb Skin and Dogtooth lined fairway cover. Soft to the touch, and akin to that of a premium cabretta red leather glove, the single barrel run of 8 fairway covers each come with a Dogtooth woolen lining. MSRP: $135 seamusgolf.comSeamus Golf — Red Lamb Skin / Dogtooth Lined Fairway Cover

Like I said, it’s hard to just pick one item from Seamus Golf’s wonderful line of products, and when I came across this sleek-looking flask, I knew I had to include it to the WUP Holiday Gift Guide (not to mention add it to my wish list!). Who doesn’t need a compact-sized flask to put in their golf bag, especially during these cool fall/winter days on the course when you need a little swig to warm you up sometimes. Plus, it comes with a super cool Dogtooth pouch, which can be used to store the flask or your valuables or tees and ballmarkers. MSRP: $67 seamusgolf.comSeamus Golf — 5oz Flask with Dogtooth Pouch

I just put this awesome bag into play last week in Hawaii. While I obviously didn’t need the “all-weather” component of it in the sunny weather, it’s a slick-looking bag all the same. There are two smaller pockets on the side for gloves and valuables and there are also two large pockets that run down to side of the bag to store your rain gear. Then, there’s a massive pouch with two The same iconic silhouettes of Jones Bags that have stood the test of time are now ready to endure the test of nature’s nastiest elements. Featuring seam-sealed zippers and water-resistant nylon, the All-Weather series is a player’s best friend and rain’s worst enemy. Designed and carried by players of the Pacific Northwest, Jones’ All-Weather technology is prepared to brave the most inclement of weather. However, like I said, it’s versatile, making it also a cool bag to sport in sunny conditions. MSRP: $249.95 jonesgolfbags.comJones Sports — All-Weather Stand Bag

This product is definitely on my personal Christmas wish list. To this day, the R11 model is probably my favorite club, so I was super pumped when I heard the news that TaylorMade was bringing back the “R” series. While the R15 driver won’t be available until January 9, 2015, you can already start pre-ordering the product. It will be offered in both black and white and features a desirable, playable pear-shape in two head sizes — 460cc and 430cc. It’s also available in four lofts — 9.5°, 10.5°, 12° and 14°. With its new Front Track system in R15, adjusting a TaylorMade driver has never been quicker or easier: Inside the track system are two sliding split weights that weigh 12.5 grams each (25g total). The R15 club head has 5g more discretionary mass to maneuver and is 4g lighter than the popular SLDR. Using our torque wrench, the golfer can loosen and slide the weights to the heel for a draw, to the toe for a fade or split for maximum stability. Additionally, R15 incorporates the company’s most adjustable loft-sleeve, giving golfers the ability to alter their face angle, lie angle and loft preference to affect side-to-side trajectory. A simple rotation of the loft-sleeve system allows you to choose from 12 distinct settings that makes incremental changes in the lie and the loft/face angle (range is 4°). Key to the performance of the R15 is the low and forward center of gravity (CG) – a strategic placement of weight first seen in SLDR which promotes faster ball speed with less spin. The larger, 460cc version of R15 is for the player seeking maximum forgiveness and confidence on the tee, while the R15 430 has a shape that strongly resembles some of the most coveted drivers from the company’s past. The address size is noticeably smaller to appeal to players who prefer a smaller address view. The R15 430 is also the lowest spinning driver offering. I couldn’t live without my Adams hybrid or my Adams Tight Lies Fairway Wood, so the idea of a Tight Lies Hybrid makes me super excited and I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these. These elements have made Adams the #1 Hybrid on Tour*, and combined with the new Ghost Slot Technology create a hybrid that is exceptionally playable from all lies without sacrificing the classic look that golfers at all levels crave. Get them while they’re hot! Nike athletes around the world are adding the Nike Vapor irons to their bags — and picking up wins along the way. The irons meld craftsmanship with a proprietary Modern Muscle design to produce more efficient and pure strikes. Unveiled by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Jimmy Fallon on Aug. 18 against a New York City skyline, the Nike Vapor irons feature a pinnacle Nike innovation called Modern Muscle. This innovation is a modification of a standard muscle-back design that moves the iron’s center of gravity to the center of the club face to yield truer and more efficient and pure strikes. Maui Jim combines form and function with their sharp-looking sunnies in a large variety of models — from more traditional golf sunglasses to an aviator style. I can’t leave home without my “Guardrails.” I prefer ones with a MauiFlex memory metal frame with their proprietary material as they remember fit and shape longer than traditional metal frames as well as being durable and featherweight. Maui Jims also come in different color lenses depending on your preference and/or use. My favorite is the HCL Bronze as it’s perfect for everyday variable conditions, from full sun to overcast. It also provides excellent contrast and it’s great if you love a warm, subtle bronze tint. MSRP: $169-$349 mauijim.comMaui Jim Sunglasses
